Kim Kardashian Wears A Plunging White Gucci Dress And Princess Diana's Cross Pendant On LACMA Red Carpet
For the star-studded red carpet, the Kardashians star, 44, poured her curves into a white Gucci gown with a plunging front, styled with an oversized men's coat that was worn in an off-the-shoulder fashion. Her hair was styled in a chic short bob, and her makeup consisted of fierce lined eyes, glamorous fluttery eyelashes, and a plump nude lip.
The Skims founder accessorized with the 5.25 carat cross pendant, which she reportedly purchased for almost $200,000 at Sotheby's annual Royal & Noble auction last year. The late Princess Diana famously wore the cross pendant on a long pearl chain at Birthright's London charity gala back in 1987, while Kim added hers to a Bvlgari pearl choker.
The internet had mixed reactions to the mom-of-four stepping out in the iconic piece of jewelry, with many people deeming it "disrespectful." Of course, this isn't the first time that she has caused controversy for wearing something that previously belonged to an icon, as she caused a stir when she wore Marilyn Monroe's gold dress to the Met Gala in 2022.
Internet Reactions
"Diana was the classiest lady in the world. Kim, unfortunately no words for you. So disrespectful," slammed one person in the comments of a People Instagram post. "That's a major insult to Diana," noted a second, as a third said: "All of those Kardashian women combined couldn't hold a candle to the late Princess."
"Makes me so angry Kim has access to this piece, or any important iconic jewels. Especially from Diana – ugh," wrote a fourth disgruntled user, as a fifth wrote: "Kim K & Princess Diana should not even be in the same sentence." "Except Kim made it look kinda cheap," criticized another user. "Kim makes everything so vulgar," concurred another, as someone else echoed: "Tacky, vulgar and tone deaf. New low." "This is not glamour. This is tacky," agreed another.
"Who in the freaking heck is allowing this to happen?" asked another IG user, adding: "First Marylin Monroe's dress and now this! Some items aren't meant to be flaunted around." Someone else thought: "Sometimes, it's better to leave certain things alone and not interfere with the collective consciousness."
