According to reports, King Charles is allegedly upset over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s recent visit to Nigeria. The Sussex couple’s travels bore a striking resemblance to an official royal tour, causing the monarch, 75, to apparently be “angrier than anyone has ever seen him” before.

Two weeks ago, Harry, 39, and Markle, 42, embarked on a journey that spanned three days, leading them to Nigeria. During their time there, they held meetings with officials, explored educational institutions, and made visits to various charitable organizations, as is customary during a royal tour.

King Charles & Prince William Are Angry About Prince Harry & Meghan Markle's Recent Nigeria Trip, Insiders Say

Royal expert Tom Quinn claims that both the King and Prince William are incensed by the Sussexes' royal-esque visit to the African nation.

"William is absolutely furious and determined to find a way to stop this happening in [the] future," Quinn recently dished to The Mirror. The insider added: "Charles is said to be angrier than anyone has ever seen him."

Quinn noted that "what’s really upset the applecart" was the way that Harry and Markle orchestrated their trip. In Charles and William's eyes, it suggested a level of formality comparable to an official tour. "All the signs were there as the couple were greeted with dances, receptions, visits to schools and charities," Quinn told the outlet.

For a while now, the royal family has reportedly harbored concerns about the former senior working royals (who departed in 2020) and that they would "try to pull a fast one." The Spare author and Suits alum's recent venture "confirmed their worst fears."

While the family lacks any control over Nigeria or the travel plans of Harry and Markle, Quinn believed that it wasn't difficult to understand the concerns of the senior royals. "It's easy to see why the senior royals are worried," he said.

Quinn also noted to the publication: "William and Charles are scratching their heads and thinking, 'How are we going to control this nightmare situation?'" Quinn went on: "William and his father, King Charles, don’t like it one bit."

"For Charles and William, it’s as if Meghan and Harry are saying, 'We don’t need your permission to be working royals—we will do it on our own terms, whenever and wherever we like,'" he continued.

Harry and Markle embarked on their Nigerian trip just days after the Duke of Sussex celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games in the UK.

Apart from his late mother Princess Diana's siblings, none of Harry's family members made an effort to meet with him or attend the anniversary ceremony, despite receiving invitations.

Earlier this month, Vanity Fair reported that despite Charles being present in London, Harry's spokesperson confirmed that there would be no meeting between the father and son duo.
The source conveyed that Harry was unable to find a place in the King's hectic itinerary. They noted that Harry was "understanding of his father’s diary of commitments" at the time and that he "and hopes to see him soon."
