It’s now a known fact that Prince Harry was cut off financially by King Charles, hence now having to rely on deals with Spotify and Netflix, and of course, profits from his bombshell memoir, Spare. However, the explicit reason wasn’t exactly known… until now!

According to reports, a three-year Byline Times investigation discovered that Prince Harry, 39, was cut off financially by his father after he accused the partner of Kensington Palace aide Christian Jones of spilling his secrets to journalist and broadcaster Dan Wootton, including his and Meghan Markle’s intentions to step down as senior royals. (Let’s not forget that Prince Harry alleged that royal insiders leaked stories to the press in Spare.) However, he refused to withdraw his allegation against Jones’ partner, which is when King Charles reportedly made his decision to cut his son off. Yikes!

Prince Harry Reportedly Accused Palace Aide's Partner Of Leaking Stories

According to Byline Times, Prince Harry sent a legal letter to the Sun in April 2020, alleging that Jones' partner, who is a professional publicist, had been paid £4,000 for revealing a number of stories to the publication, including his and the former Suits actress's decision to step down as senior royals. Jones has denied these allegations, while his partner says they received the payments for other stories, and not the stories which Prince Harry is alleging.

Prince Harry and Meghan were reportedly living in Canada at the time, and were receiving £700,000 in a trial agreement referred to as the Sandringham Agreement. For what it's worth, two internal investigations reportedly cleared Jones; but as Prince Harry reportedly refused to remove Jones' name from the legal papers, despite a lot of pressure from high-ranking officials such as Sir Clive Alderton and the former Lord Chamberlain Lord Peel, King Charles felt his hand to cut his son off financially was forced.

King Charles Reportedly Removed Prince Harry's Funding To 'Force' Him Back To The UK

"They threatened the removal of the funding to try and protect the royal household from a potential courtroom scandal with Jones and Wootton very publicly at the centre," a "well-placed source" reportedly told Byline Times. "The actual removal of the funding weeks later was about control, and designed to force Harry and Meghan to come back to the senior royal family in the U.K. where their security would be assured." However, cutting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's funding didn't quite go to plan!

Another source reportedly said: "The removal of the transition funding, which Prince Charles knew was his son's only lifeline to keeping safe, was considered a very effective way of trying to bring Harry and Meghan to heel in the U.K. But it didn't work."
