King Charles is under fire as the royal family continues to find itself in the spotlight. After Kate’s recent revelation of her tragic cancer diagnosis, her absence from royal events like the royal church service on Easter Sunday was certainly noted, however, most of the chatter from royal fans hasn’t been about Kate, it’s been about Prince Andrew. The disgraced Duke of York was spotted among other senior royals, including King Charles and Queen Camilla, and the former has now been accused of trying to “protect” his younger brother. Disgraced Prince Andrew Spotted At Easter Celebrations With The Royal Family
Prince Andrew stepped back from his royal duties in 2019, after his close friendship with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein was revealed, and his interview with Newsnight about his dear friend went viral. The Duke of York was stripped of his military honors and royal patronages, and he no longer uses the title "His Royal Highness." The royal family has made an effort to distance themselves from the situation as a whole, but now it seems as though they might be welcoming him back in.
Prince Andrew was spotted at an Easter church service with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, as well as other senior royals, including Princess Anne, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, and of course, King Charles and Queen Camilla. Royal commentator Kristen Meinzer thinks that the disgraced royal is trying to "orchestrate a revival" back into public life.
However, she did note that the Easter service wasn't a "business event" for the family and was rather "a personal event" that any family may have, but still thinks the family should keep their distance. Evan Nierman, a PR expert, agrees. "The family has much more to lose than gain by continuing to appear with Andrew, so there is certainly a case to be made for keeping their distance."
King Charles Called Out For 'Protecting' Prince Andrew
King Charles appears to have a soft spot for his younger brother, or at least royal fans think so. In a now-deleted Reddit thread discussing the events. "King Charles has never been a confrontational man, but he needs to draw the line somewhere," one person wrote. "Associating with a pedophile is not a good look for a King."
"He's trying to protect his little brother," another person wrote. "Always has."
"Wonder if William will keep Prince Andrew at more of a distance when he's king," one royal fan wrote. "Or maybe even take away that Prince title."
"Royal family is falling apart these days!!" another person commented.
"I don't understand why Prince Andrew is even welcome at royal events," another person wrote. "If you want to see him behind closed doors, fine, but in public? Thought the royal family was smarter than that."
