Prince Andrew Evades Eviction
While Prince Andrew isn't allowed at public royal events, he is allowed to call the $37M Royal Lodge mansion home. Though perhaps not for much longer. Reports of the Prince neglecting his home come from Us Weekly. The publication claims that the Duke of York doesn't have the funds to maintain the 19-century property, and thus the privilege may be taken from him.
However, according to The Times, Prince Andrew has somehow "convinced Palace authorities that he has sufficient funds from legitimate sources to support himself," despite King Charles attempting to cut his allowance. A separate source reported that "If Andrew can pay for his own upkeep with legitimate means, then it is not an issue. But the King's patience has run out when it comes to funding his brother's lifestyle in a way that does not fit his status."
King Charles Is 'Humiliated'
While Andrew is probably feeling victorious, King Charles is feeling the opposite. "Whoever advised the king to set off on this road and keep going down this road has very serious questions to answer," a source close to the King says. "Charles loathes incompetence above all else. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if some people quietly clear off at Christmas never to be seen again."
Another source reported that King Charles is "humiliated" by the whole ordeal. "I’m afraid it’s another reflection of the family’s fundamental dysfunction. Normal families don’t have these kinds of arguments," the source continued.
