When Kate Middleton revealed she had been diagnosed with cancer about a year ago, she also announced she would be taking a step back from her royal duties in order to focus on recovery. Now that her chemotherapy treatment is over, the Princess is slowly working her way back to resuming all of her royal roles, and King Charles is reportedly considering giving her another one as a “mark of recognition.” Keep reading for more information.
Kate Middleton Could Be A 'Royal Warrant' Grantor
Kate is well known for her impeccable fashion choices, and shoppers are often influenced to shop where she shops. With this potential new role, the Princess might be able to stamp her mark of approval on more than just clothes, by granting royal warrants. According to the royal family's website, "a Royal Warrant of Approval is granted as a mark of recognition to people or companies who have regularly supplied goods or services to the Royal Household."
If King Charles, who is the only person currently able to award royal warrants, gives Kate Middleton this authority as well, she will become the first Princess of Wales to do so in over a century. The London Times reported that it would be "a first for anyone holding the title Princess of Wales since the days of Queen Mary, who issued warrants before her husband, George V, ascended the throne in 1910."
Kate Middleton's Brave Cancer Battle
King Charles is reportedly thinking of making this happen for Kate Middleton after her "brave" cancer battle. She and the King have been fighting cancer alongside one another, as King Charles announced he was battling cancer just before Kate Middleton did. While both are far along on their paths to recovery, their brave and public fight against cancer has only made royal fans even more adoring.
Which is why Kate Middleton would be the perfect person to grant royal warrants. Even more so than being loved and influential, the Princess would use this role to do more for English communities. Christine Ross, royal expert and author of The Princess Project newsletter, told Marie Claire that "From what we know about her choices in the past, the Princess of Wales is most likely to present royal warrants to small, heritage businesses to utilize her platform in the most meaningful way."
