Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have received an invitation to spend Christmas with the late Princess Diana’s family, but they sadly have *not* received one from King Charles.
Does this mean the Sussexes will indeed be heading to Princess Diana’s childhood home in Althorp this Christmas, or will they be staying put in Montecito, California? Only time will tell!
King Charles Is Reportedly Planning A Big Christmas Celebration In The Sandringham House Ballroom
According to reports, King Charles is planning on going big for the holidays this year, presumably because of the tough year he and his family have faced due to his and daughter-in-law Kate Middleton's cancer battles. But while he is reportedly planning a "large" Christmas party at Sandringham and will be inviting many other guests to join him, the invitation has not, as far as we know, extended to his youngest son Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their two children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Queen Camilla is also said to be inviting a lot of her own guests too, with The Express noting how her son Tom Parker Bowles and his children Lola, 17, and Freddy, 14, and daughter Laura Lopes and her own children, Eliza, 16, and 14-year-old twins Gus and Louis, are all on the guest list.
A palace insider reportedly revealed that the event will be held in the Sandringham House ballroom over Christmas, with approximately 100 guests being able to look forward to a fancy buffet-style roast with all the trimmings, among other things.
"There will be a large number of people present at this year's dinner," a palace insider said, according to the Scottish Daily Express, referencing how it is likely to be a huge success due to how successful last year's similar occasion proved to be.
"It was trialled in the ballroom for the first time last year and proved a big success so this year will be held in a similar fashion," the source said.
Who Else Is Expected To Attend?
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, as we previously mentioned, are not on the guest list, but there are many other royals who are expected to attend, including Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Princess Anne has also been invited, along with her son Peter Phillips and daughter Zara Tindall, and their respective families, as well as the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and their children Lady Louise Windsor and James Wessex.
A pregnant Princess Beatrice and husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are also expected to show their faces, along with their three-year-old daughter Sienna and Princess Beatrice's eight-year-old stepson, Wolfie. Perhaps most controversially of all, disgraced royal Prince Andrew has reportedly also received an invitation, and is expected to attend with ex-wife Sarah Ferguson and their other daughter Princess Eugenie, who will also be attending with her husband Jack Brooksbank and their two children.
Christmas Eve And Christmas Morning Will Be More Intimate
While over 100 people are expected to attend King Charles' Christmas party, things will be more intimate on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning.
According to reports, closer members of the family will be invited to Sandringham on Christmas Eve for their traditional gift exchanging (the family traditionally give each other silly, and funny gifts!) while the royal family are expected to head to St. Mary Magdalene Church on Christmas morning for the Christmas Day service.
