When Prince Harry received the news that King Charles III had been diagnosed with cancer, he dropped everything to fly to the U.K. to visit his father. He confirmed this in his Good Morning America interview, telling Will Reeve: “I jumped on a plane and went to go see him as soon as I could. I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go see and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that.”

However, what the Duke of Sussex, 39, didn’t confess to in the interview was that his visit reportedly came with a strict set of rules, which could perhaps be the real reason why his meeting with his father only lasted 30-45 minutes.

Is This The Real Reason Prince Harry's Visit With King Charles Lasted Less Than One Hour?

According to reports, Prince Harry visited his father at Clarence House as soon as he landed in the U.K, which marked the first time the pair were alone together since Queen Elizabeth II's death in 2022.

Their meeting reportedly lasted less than one hour, as King Charles and Queen Camilla had to leave to be driven to Buckingham Palace, where they would then fly to their estate in Sandringham. So why didn't Prince Harry meet his father and step-mother at Sandringham, where older brother Prince William and his family would also be spending the half-term holidays?

If we are to believe an insider who dished to The Sun, the reason is because palace aides feared they'd "never get rid of him." As well as being told where and when to meet his father, another rule Prince Harry reportedly had to follow was staying in a hotel. He was reportedly told to get a hotel if he wanted to stay in the country, instead of staying with his father or one of their other properties.

The Sun noted that Prince Harry "took it upon himself" to fly to the U.K. when he heard the news about his father's cancer diagnosis, also revealing that Buckingham Palace accepted Prince Harry's brief visit to the U.K. as a kind "gesture" and "cause for optimism." But we don't know how Prince Harry really feels about not being allowed to visit his father and the rest of the family at the Sandringham estate.

"Harry came over to see his father, expecting to go to Sandringham. But instead, he was asked to be at Clarence House and was restricted to 30 minutes," the insider told the outlet. "The fear was that if he went to Sandringham they would never get rid of him," the source added.
