King Charles, 75, will reportedly be “more worried than anyone other than Prince William” about Kate Middleton, who is currently in hospital after having planned abdominal surgery earlier this month.
This statement about the monarch’s concerns about the Princess of Wales’ “serious” condition that required surgery on January 16th has come from royal author and historian Robert Hardman, whose new book Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story came out on January 18th.
King Charles Is Reportedly Worried About Kate Middleton
While we don't know what led to the Princess of Wales, 42, needing to have surgery, it's understood that the condition is not cancerous, if we are to believe reports.
The mom-of-three will reportedly be spending the next week at The London Clinic before returning home to Adelaide Cottage on the grounds of Windsor's Home Park to recuperate. She is not expected to return to royal duties until after Easter, which is reportedly something King Charles was very strict with.
The monarch, who is currently seeking treatment for an enlarged prostate, reportedly didn't want his daughter-in-law to feel pressured into returning to her royal duties, and wanted her to take as much time as needed to recover from her surgery.
According to GB News, Hardman said that King Charles "is a huge fan of hers," adding that he "thinks she's a great asset" to the royal family. "He'll be more worried than anyone other than Prince William about her," Hardman continued. "She's fit, she's young and she's out of action for three months. That's a cause for concern, not alarm, but he'll definitely be taking the view, 'For God's sake, don't make her feel she's got to come back to duties any sooner than she feels she needs to.' I don't think there's anyone who wants to put any kind of pressure on her."
Kate Middleton Is Expected To Take Three Months Off
According to The Royal Observer, psychiatrist Dr. Max Pemberton told an outlet: "We don't know what's wrong or why she needed the operation. But Kate has always struck me as quite down-to-earth, level-headed, and stoical, so I'm sure she wouldn't have heeded medical advice and taken that much time off unless really necessary."
"Of course, there's always someone who will tell you how they had a hysterectomy in their lunch break, or their appendix removed while on the school run," he continued, adding: "We need to allow ourselves time to get both physically and mentally back up to speed. So many of us are guilty of rushing back to work too quickly. But in reality, we should all be taking a leaf out of Kate's book and convalescing properly."
