Kourtney Kardashian took to Instagram on Wednesday to disclose some of the details of her recent emergency hospitalization, which included “urgent fetal surgery” to save her unborn baby’s life.
A source told People on September 4th that Kourtney had returned from a “brief” stay in a hospital, a few days after the official Blink-182 Twitter/X account posted that drummer Travis Barker, Kourtney’s husband and father of her unborn son, had to return home from their current concert tour “due to an urgent family matter.” Kourtney then clarified the situation with her Instagram post, revealing that the hospitalization had been due to pregnancy complications.

Kourtney Kardashian ‘Forever Grateful’ To Doctors For ‘Saving Our Baby’s Life’
Kourtney‘s Instagram post showed a black-and-white image of her with an IV in her arm, holding hands with husband Travis Barker while likely still in the hospital. Clarifying the news that she had been hospitalized and released sometime early this month, the reality star revealed that it was due to an emergency situation with her unborn baby. “I will be forever grateful to my incredible doctors for saving our baby’s life,” she emotionally wrote. “I am eternally grateful to my husband who rushed to my side from tour to be with me in the hospital and take care of me afterwards, my rock. And to my mom, thank you for holding my hand through this.”
She went on, “As someone who has had three really easy pregnancies in the past, I wasn’t prepared for the fear of rushing into urgent fetal surgery. I don’t think anyone who hasn’t been through a similar situation can begin to understand that feeling of fear. I have a whole new understanding and respect for the mamas who have had to fight for their babies while pregnant…Praise be to God. Walking out of the hospital with my baby boy in my tummy and safe was the truest blessing.”
Kourtney previously had 3 smooth pregnancies with her children from her partnership with ex Scott Disick—sons Mason and Reign and daughter Penelope. She also is stepmother to Travis' 2 children with ex-wife Shanna Moakler, son Landon and daughter Alabama, as well as a surrogate mom to Travis' stepdaughter, Shanna's daughter Atiana, from a previous relationship. It seems clear from the photo and the image's caption that Travis made it in time to support his wife through the harrowing ordeal.
He shared on Twitter/X Wednesday, "God is great. I flew home for a life-threatening emergency surgery for our baby that I’m so grateful went well. I want to say thank you for all the support. Tour resumes Friday." Travis and his band Blink-182 were in Europe on tour, and his emergency departure led to postponements for the band's Glasgow, Belfast, and Dublin shows.
Kourtney Revealed Pregnancy To Travis At Blink-182 Concert
At a Blink-182 concert in June at Los Angeles' BMO Stadium, Kourtney Kardashian held up a handwritten sign in the audience that certainly got her hubby's attention: on the yellow poster board, she wrote: "TRAVIS I'M PREGNANT". The sign was a reference to Blink-182's classic music video for "All The Small Things", where a fan holds up a similar poster while the band is performing.
Travis reacted to seeing the poster as if the news was a total surprise, and left the stage to give his wife a happy embrace. As recently as May, Kourtney confessed on The Kardashians that she and Barker were "officially done with IVF", but still wanted "a baby more than anything." At the time, she told cameras, "I really believe in what God has in store for us. If that's a baby, I believe it will happen."
It's uncertain when the Barker-Kardashian bundle of joy is officially due, but many fans have estimated Kourtney is somewhere around 7 or 8 months along due to timing and her baby bump. The insider told People earlier this week, "[Kourtney] is feeling better...She is happy to have Travis back home, too." We're so happy that Kourt and baby are home and healthy after this scary experience, and wish the couple well in the final stages of pregnancy.
