Kourtney Kardashian Opened Up About Her 20-Lb Weight Gain: ‘I Am So Into My Thicker Body’

Kourtney Kardashian opened up about her post-IVF, body-positive mindset in the latest episode of The Kardashians and we love to see it! The reality star, 43, talked about gaining weight and feeling confident in her body after undergoing in-vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments in the past year.
Since the episode aired last week, many fans online have thanked the Poosh founder for “speaking about a common experience” that many women have when trying to get pregnant, and for “promoting a healthy outlook” on weight gain (as it’s not always a bad thing, folks!)
On the show, the mom of three reflected on her recent appearance and understanding her self worth.”So obviously my body’s changed. But it was all of the hormones that the doctors put me on,” she said. “Eight months of IVF treatment has definitely taken a toll on my body mentally and physically. I think it’s taken me a lot to get me to the place of feeling really comfortable and happy with the changes.”
Kardashian explained that social media comments about her weight have (understandably) taken a toll on her mental health, but feeling supported by her husband Travis Barker, 46, has made her feel “so into” her new body. “Every day, Travis is like, ‘You’re perfect,'” she said. “If I make one complaint, he’s like, ‘You’re perfect. You’re so fine… You’ve never been better.'” (Aww!) The eldest Kardashain sister continued, “Having a partner who is so supportive of me and always complimenting me, no matter what, it’s just helped me to really embrace the changes and actually to the point where I love the changes now.”
Before the star complimented her own “amazing” butt, she admitted that it’s sometimes “cringey” to look back at old photos when she was much smaller, and as she implied, unhealthy. “I’m so into my thicker body,” Kardashian noted during the episode. “When I was super skinny, it’s like a time when I was super anxious— not about eating, not about staying at a certain weight. But, like, just in toxic relationships. I used to always say this: When I’m super skinny, just know I’m not happy.”
She detailed her journey with body acceptance, and not paying mind to the numbers on the scale, “I used to be, like, 95 lbs.,” she went on, “And then 105 became my new normal weight. I’m 115. I used to be stuck on the number. I also love being curvier. It’s just channeling that queen energy and embracing the woman that I am.”
Over the past few years, Kardashian has been the subject of relentless online critics, who specifically targeted and mocked her changing body, and insinuated that she might be pregnant. In May of 2020, she responded to a social media user who asked if she was pregnant after she posted a bikini-clad photo.
At the time, she uploaded a collection of images of herself sun-tanning in two-piece swimsuit and a cow-patterned button-up top.”This is me when I have a few extra pounds on, and I actually love it,” Kardashian wrote to the user. “I have given birth three amazing times and this is the shape of my body.” (Amen to that)
