Kylie Jenner is always one for trying new trends (and for setting trends in the first place!) but fans were a little taken aback when she stepped out in some very controversial flip-flop boots while heading out to dinner in the French capital during Paris Fashion Week on Saturday, October 1st.
Instead of opting for classic Parisian glamour, the 25-year-old Kylie Cosmetics founder went for something a little bolder in terms of her footwear choice, as she wore an electric blue pair of Maison Margiela flip-flop boots that we’re confident would have caused many Parisian fashionistas to scratch their heads in confusion.

The over-the-knee boots in question featured an open toe front, which showed off Kylie’s perfect French pedicure, and a chunky block heel. They were certainly attention-grabbing and got a lot of people talking, so was it mission accomplished? The pop of color was no doubt a welcome addition to the otherwise neutral ‘fit, but was the controversial thong sandal design – which could also be seen as very impractical in terms of keeping out the chill – a little too much?
As expected, the shoes have divided the internet, with the comments section on the Kylie Jenner Closet Instagram account blowing up with both praise and confusion! “Not them Naruto shoes!!!” exclaimed one fan. “Love the color of the shoes, but not the design of the shoes,” commented another. “Those shoes are so uglyyy,” wrote another, while someone else deemed the outfit “wrong on so many levels.” However, other fans were very complimentary of the shoes, with one writing, “The shoes & the spring summer 2023 look is cute!!” and another saying, “Love this look,” followed by the fire emoji.

Controversial footwear aside, the rest of the mom-of-two’s outfit was chic and glamorous, consisting of an off-white, skin-tight Maison Margiela midi dress that sensationally hugged her every curve, and came complete with an off-the-shoulder neckline and a matching scarf. The dress and boots were actually hot off the Margiela runway, believe it or not, although it looks like Kylie’s dress was made a little more conservatively than the totally sheer version that came out on the catwalk.
The Kylie Skin founder wore her hair in a sleek low bun (not the messy bun that so many celebs are fond of, as Kylie didn’t have a single hair out of place!) and finished off with some oversized Balenciaga sport goggle sunglasses.
