Keeping Up With the Kardashians is seemingly everyone’s favorite t.v. guilty pleasure, but the show’s ongoing success and constant media attention surrounding the famous family has led Kylie Jenner to mask her true authentic self.
The 23-year-old reality star recently revealed that she has learned to tone down her personality and keep more to herself after spending essentially her entire life in the spotlight.
The Kylie Cosmetics founder shared with YouTuber James Charles during a Halloween makeup tutorial video that she feels “sad” about not showing what she’s really like for the world to see.
Jenner took to Charles’ channel to sit down with the influencer to promote her latest cosmetics collection as he did her makeup. However, after Charles commented on Jenner’s fun personality, she ended up getting real about how her stardom has changed the way she portrays herself on social media.
"I think that I showed my true personality for so long ago on Vine and Instagram," Jenner explains in the video. "But as I got bigger and bigger, I realized... when people used to say mean things about how I really am, my personality and what I love the most about myself, it would hurt me more than almost playing a character, like not showing people everything."
The KUWTK star continued to reveal that any criticism she got led her to show less of her personality on social media with her now massive 200 million Instagram following.
However, since Jenner has recently spent more time on her own YouTube channel, she is excited “to do more things” in her videos that show her true self.
