We had to do a double take when we saw Lady Gaga on the December cover of British Vogue, as she looks absolutely unrecognizable! Photographed by Steven Meisel, the 35-year-old “Born This Way” singer is rocking a sharp super-sexy Schiaparelli Haute Couture dress with a plunging neckline and dramatic oversized (that’s putting it mildly!) gold sleeves on the cover, but it’s the short black and blue mohawk wig that’s really taken us by surprise! How does she always manage to push boundaries and find new ways to shock us?! She looks breath-taking!
Social media exploded with reactions from excited fans; and it wasn’t just her loyal Little Monsters fanbase, as the cover seemed to be a hit with absolutely everyone! “This 80’s punk rock hair and makeup, omg I’m obsessed with you Lady Gaga,” read one Twitter comment. “Lady Gaga really just woke up and decided to take over British Vogue,” read another. “I don’t think I will ever be over this Vogue photoshoot. This is exactly what I wanted to see from her,” raved another fan. And people were just as if not more excited over on Instagram, with one IG user gushing, “Not even the sky is the limit,” while another echoed our thoughts, by writing, “Dear Lord, she looks absolutely spectacular.”

We know that the A Star is Born actress loves changing up her appearance for her music videos, performances, red carpet appearances, and her movie roles, so we aren’t too surprised to see her try yet another bold look for the cover. But her boldest transformation has to be for her portrayal of Patrizia Reggiani in the upcoming and very highly-anticipated House Of Gucci biopic about the marriage and divorce of Patrizia and Maurizio Gucci. Directed by Ridley Scott, the movie is a “retelling of a notorious tale of fashion, money and murder,” according to British Vogue, and we can’t wait to see Gaga in action!
From what we can see in the trailer and some of the teaser pics that have been released over the past few months, Gaga really embodies every fiber of Reggiani; the resemblance is uncanny! Gaga told the fashion bible that she didn’t just switch it on when the cameras were rolling – she was so committed to the part, she actually stayed in character for a year and a half! “It is three years since I started working on it, and I will be fully honest and transparent. I lived as Reggiani for a year and a half,” she told Giles Hattersley in the interview. “And I spoke with an accent for nine months of that. Off camera. I never broke. I stayed with her.”

The Oscar-winner also revealed that she made the interesting decision to never meet with Reggiani, as she wanted to approach the character as a “curious” observer instead. “I only felt that I could truly do this story justice if I approached it with the eye of a curious woman who was interested in possessing a journalistic spirit so that I could read between the lines of what was happening in the film’s scenes,” she added. “Meaning that nobody was going to tell me who Patrizia Gucci was. Not even Patrizia Gucci.”
The film has an all-star cast, and also features Salma Hayek as Pina Auriemma, Adam Driver as Maurizio Gucci, Jared Leto as Paolo Gucci, Al Pacino as Aldo Gucci, and Jeremy Irons as Rodolfo Gucci. House of Gucci is out on November 24th, and we are beyond excited!
