Leonardo DiCaprio Calls For Political Action For The Environment
In a post to his Instagram account, where he sports over 60M followers, DiCaprio pointed out one of the many plans the Biden-Harris administration has to protect the environment. “The Biden-Harris Administration affirms protection of 28 million acres of public lands in Alaska,” he captioned a post over the Alaskan landscape.
“This decision protects numerous public lands across Alaska from extractive development activities, such as mining and oil and gas drilling. Many Alaska Native Tribes, Native Corporations and Tribal entities say these millions of acres are vital in protecting important natural, cultural and subsistence resources.” While his messaging is certainly important, fans were quick to point out the hypocrisy in his point.
Fans Slam Leonardo DiCaprio
While Leonardo DiCaprio is a long-standing environmental activist, it doesn't seem like he practices what he preaches. He often flies via private jet and spends much of his time partying on mega-yachts, neither of which are particularly environmental friendly.
"Private plane, big boat for partying, try and teach us about how to to save the planet. Now we know what kind of human you are thanks to P Diddy," one person wrote, commenting on the actor's close relationship with Sean "Diddy" Combs, who is facing charges for sex trafficking, kidnapping, and forced labor, among other things.
"How's your gas guzzling private jet, hypocrite?" another person asked.
"Partying on your private jet with Diddy while lecturing us on climate change?" another pointed out.
"When's your next month-long yachting vacation?" another asked. "Before or after you blame all the world's problems on us civilians? How about you're the problem!"
"I'm never watching another one of his movies again," a final comment reads. "This is unbelievably tone deaf."
