Mascara is a beauty essential for almost every makeup lover out there. Whether your lashes are naturally voluminous or need a little boost, mascara has got you covered. Just one coat of this beloved product can help lengthen, thicken, and curl your lashes to help you achieve fake eyelash-level realness.

If mascara is your favorite makeup product, you already know just how fast it can run out. This is especially true if your lashes require multiple coats to get the desired effect you want. You also know that most mascaras don’t come cheap, and you may be hesitant to buy a new one. But, maybe you’re just using a dry mascara and don’t actually need to get another one!

Thankfully, there’s a beauty editor-approved hack that will help you make the most of your mascara and get the best lashes of your life! This life-changing hack comes from Sarah Siegal, POPSUGAR’s Assistant Editor for Beauty and Shopping, and all it requires is your favorite mascara and a mug of warm water!

"Whenever I seem to be out of mascara, I run to my kitchen and fill a mug with water," she writes. "I throw it in the microwave for a minute, then place the mascara tube in the mug for a few minutes while I run to get dressed. When I return, the dried-up mascara has loosened and I have more product in the tube again."

If you're really running late, Siegel suggests using the saline solution that you use for your contacts to get the all of the mascara out. "I place a few drops in the tube of mascara, which usually provides enough moisture to be able to get a good amount of mascara on my lashes with a few passes of the wand," she explains.

That sounds like it will get the job done, right? If you're still stuck and are certain that there's still more mascara left, Siegel recommends (carefully!) removing the stopper from the tube with pliers or tweezers. She says it takes a little bit more time than the other tips, but it will definitely help!
