Lisa Kudrow became a household name after starring as Phoebe Buffay on NBC’s Friends for 10 seasons. But despite the show’s massive success, Kudrow says that filming the hit sitcom wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.
In a recent interview, Kudrow revealed that she was never really comfortable while filming the show and that she struggled with body images issues throughout its 10-year run.
"Unfortunately for a woman, if you're underweight, you look good and that's all I ever got," she told Marc Maron during an episode of his podcast "WTF with Marc Maron," explaining that she got "too thin" during the show and struggled to maintain her weight.
Kudrow also said that seeing herself in scenes alongside co-stars Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox also contributed her negative feelings towards her body.
"Because you see yourself on TV and it's that, 'Oh my God, I'm just a mountain of a girl,'" she continued. "I'm already bigger than Courteney and Jennifer. My bones feel bigger. I just felt like this mountain of a woman next to them."
Kudrow's road to self-acceptance has been hard, but she says that her outlook has changed tremendously. The Comeback star admitted that she still has her ups and downs, but shared that she feels better than she did before.
"I have a whole battle all the time," she said. "I end up with, 'So what? So, alright. You're older. That's a good thing. Why is that a bad thing?'"
