Unofficial body positivity queen Lizzo is coming for TikTok.

The “Truth Hurts” singer recently posted a series of fierce swimsuit videos on the popular social media platform, much to the delight of her fans – but it looks like TikTok wasn’t so thrilled. After noticing the videos had been pulled, Lizzo called out the app in a video (like an icon), accusing TikTok of taking them down because of her curves.

In the video, Lizzo lip syncs “I know” while video text overlay at the bottom of the screen reads, “TikTok keeps taking down my videos with me in my bathing suits … but allows other videos with girls in bathing suits. I wonder why? TikTok we need to talk.”

Lizzo’s fans immediately leapt to her defense in the comments section of the video. One fan wrote, “Because you’re glowing queen, and people cannot handle”, while others sympathized over what they deemed “curvy girl problems.”

The post quickly became one of Lizzo’s most watched videos, racking up 11.9 million views and 2.3 million likes – and it wasn’t long before TikTok took note. A spokesperson from the app shared that the star’s swimsuit video was initially taken down because “it looked like she was wearing her underwear rather than a swimsuit.” Upon closer review, TikTtok restored the post after confirming Lizzo was indeed wearing a bathing suit.

This isn’t the first time Lizzo has faced discrimination and inequality due to her size. The singer has fought back against public criticism throughout her career, regularly championing body inclusivity and embracing her natural curves on social media.

In 2019 she achieved mainstream success with wins at the Grammys and Apple Music Awards. Time Magazine even hailed her as the year’s defining star “not just for the music she makes, but for what she represents.”

Lizzo’s unbridled joy and unapologetic self-confidence both on and offstage is a source of constant inspiration. To quote her directly, turns out she is 100% that b**.
