As we age, it’s natural for changes in our hormones to affect hair growth. So much attention is paid to our actual hair, for understandable reasons, that we sometimes forget our brows can also be affected by changes in the hair growth cycle and structure of hair follicles. We may find sparser areas between brows or brows that are more unruly and are harder to groom.

Of course, some of us never had much brow hair in the first place and have been trying to find natural ways of filling in our brows for years and decades. One beauty expert posted an informative video on her TikTok channel beautiful.life.laura that illustrated her own struggle with losing brows and how she copes with it:

The great news is that this lifting eyebrow trick can help make anyone’s brows look “fuller” and thicker. All you’ll need are three products: an eyebrow wax, taupe eyebrow pencil, and a darker shade of brow pencil. Let’s get started.

1. Eyebrow Wax

An eyebrow wax is similar to an eyebrow gel, but some formulas are a bit thicker. This product often contains nourishing ingredients like argan and other oils that hydrate the brows, but also keep them in place and beef up each individual hair so that brows look naturally thicker. Many formulas are tinted to give brows a pop of natural color (pro tip: choose a formula that’s one to two shades lighter than your hair so that you don’t saturate your brows with inky, dark color).

Laura begins her brow routine by simply brushing brows into place using an eyebrow wax called Maybelline Tattoo Studio Brow Lift Stick.

2. Taupe and Darker Eyebrow Pencils

Next, Laura takes a taupe eyebrow pencil and fills in her brows. Even though the color is lighter than you might be accustomed to using, she says prepping her brows with the wax actually helps grab the taupe pigment and makes it slightly darker while creating a “thickness” and “ease of color.”

Finally, Laura takes a darker eyebrow pencil color and works it through her brows, focusing on the outline of the brow to give them a “lift.” Using these two colors plus a wax is her secret weapon to naturally thickening her brows — and the results are impressive. If you’re struggling with your own brows, this might be the low-maintenance trick you need in your routine.
