September 10, 2017 by Lisa Cupido

Starting your day by fueling your body with a low-carb breakfast high in protein, vitamins, and minerals is an excellent way to ensure you have the energy you need to power through the morning. Bagels and croissants may be tempting and delicious, but the carb and sugar content in them will send you soaring — and then crashing. Because there's nothing worse than feeling hunger pangs on your morning commute, try swapping breads and refined carbs for this one low-carb breakfast that will speed up your metabolism.

Eggs

Eggs are practically carb free, but that just makes more room for other incredible nutrients and benefits like protein, healthy fat, selenium, vitamin D, zinc, iron, copper, and nine essential amino acids. Eating one or two eggs each morning provides optimum amounts of energy with just a few (about 75) calories per egg. They won't weigh you down or spike your blood sugar levels and, when paired with a variety of veggies in an omelette, give you everything you need to start off your morning the right way.

Oatmeal

There are mornings when your body craves carbs, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. The challenge is choosing a healthy carb source that isn't packed with sugar and is, instead, rich in fiber content. Steel-cut oats or sugar-free oatmeal is the perfect carb-healthy breakfast that will satisfy your tummy and boost your metabolism. Add antioxidant-rich blueberries and almonds for a tasty, nutritious, and complete meal.
