Eyes can give away a lot when it comes to your age, especially if you have crow’s feet, dark circles, or eye bags. Adding lash lifts, specifically for the lower lashes, is crucial when it comes to anti-aging. Lower lash lifts, or LVL lash lifts, were created exclusively by Nouveau Lashes and can be found in salons worldwide. Similar to upper lash lifts, LVL lash lifts use the same treatment process to define your eye line and create the illusion of longer lashes. To learn more about how anti-aging lower lash lifts are for women over 40, we spoke with Saffron Hughes professional makeup artist and expert from FalseEyelashes. She said lower LVL lash lifts enhance your natural lashes by adding a subtle curl and opening the eyes to make them appear larger.

Lower lash lifts

If you are looking for ways to get fuller and healthier eyebrows and eyelashes to look younger, there are so many options available like mascaras and serums. And, if you are searching for something with outstanding results, lash extensions, tints, and lifts are highly recommended.

Lash extensions, tints, and lifts have been trending for a while now, but mostly just for the top lashes. A lower lash lift can have equally eye-opening effects. Hughes explains, "A lash lift is [a] semi-permanent procedure that involves perming your lashes, shaping them into a curl that widens the eyes. Lash lifts are often paired with lash tints to darken lashes and make them stand out even more. They're a perfect solution for someone who prefers a no-makeup makeup vibe or isn't looking for the drama that full lash extensions offer." Lower lash lifts are ideal for people with lower lashes that are naturally sparse, lay across each other, or are short.

Although the application process may seem intimidating, Hughes says it "lasts under an hour," she continues, "A lash lift artist will attach silicone shields to your eyelid, then comb the lashes over the curve of the pad which forces the eyelash to curl according to the shape of the silicone shield. A perming solution is applied for approximately 10 minutes, depending on how well your eyelashes naturally hold a curl." With a lash lift, your eyelashes will appear fuller so you can skin on mascara altogether. And, if you do apply mascara, it's less likely to smudge under your eyes.

"Results vary depending on how well your natural lashes hold curls but a lash lift can last as long as eight weeks," Hughes says. So, if you're looking for a long-lasting, low-maintenance, eyelash treatment, then a lash lift is for you!

But, do lash lifts, specifically lower lash lifts, actually make you look younger? Hughes thinks so. "'Mirror lash lifts' refer to the process of lifting both the lower and upper lashes at the same time and are perfect to brighten mature eyes and make them appear younger," she emphasizes. "Eyelashes thin with age and opting for a beauty treatment like a lash lift works with your natural lashes and makes them appear thicker and darker. Perming both rows of eyelashes naturally opens up the eye, creating a natural frame around the iris. Not only does curling the lashes draw attention to the [color] of your eyes, a lift also draws attention away from signs of aging around the area, such as eye creases and under-eye wrinkles." Nice!

So, we've given you the lowdown on lower lash lifts. Now you know that professional makeup artists like Hughes believe lash lifts are a great tool to minimize signs of aging around the eye. Just remember to go to professionals who know what they're doing.
