Madonna has officially postponed her highly anticipated North American tour dates after being hospitalized for several days. The 64-year-old Grammy winner took to Instagram to update her 19 million followers on her health this week in her latest post. The pop star explained that she (understandably) needs to prioritize recovering from a bacterial infection before hitting the road.

A few weeks back, the “Holiday” singer’s manager, Guy Oseary wrote on Instagram that Madonna had to stay at her local hospital’s intensive care unit due to the infection. Since then, countless fans have wished the mom of six a speedy recovery and encouraged her to put her health first (even though we’d all love to see her on tour ASAP!)

In January 2023, Madonna announced dates for her 12th world tour, ‘Celebration,’ and according to Billboard, tickets sold out in minutes. The “Like A Virgin” hitmaker’s string of concerts was supposed to kick off in Vancouver on July 15th. Her tour will now begin in Europe in October. North American dates, she said, still need to be rescheduled.

Madonna Postpones ‘Celebration’ Tour Dates After Suffering From Bacterial Infection

Madonna uploaded a two-part IG post on July 10th. It included an image with a black background and a note written in white lettering, followed by a selfie. She began, thanking fans for their well wishes: “Thank you for your positive energy. Prayers and words of healing and encouragement. I have felt your love. I’m on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life.”

The “La Isla Bonita” musician continued: “My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children. My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour.”

She went on: “I also didn’t want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show. I hate to disappoint anyone.”

The Queen of Pop added: “My focus now is my health and getting stronger and I assure you, I’ll be back with you as soon as I can! The current plan is to reschedule the North American leg of the tour and to begin the tour in Europe.” The style icon concluded her message: “I couldn’t be more grateful for your care and support. Love, M.”

Fans Wish Madonna A ‘Fast Recovery’ On Instagram

Naturally, many followers left sweet and hopeful notes to Madonna in her post’s comment section, commending her “honesty” and “openness” with her fans. “Wishing you a speedy recovery queen,” one wrote with red heart emojis as another added: “We love you and will be here for you whenever you are ready.”

Someone else chimed in, regarding the celebratory tour (that aimed to honor her versatile music eras and successful career that spans over four decades):  “We’ve loved you for 40 years and a few more months won’t hurt any more. Love and blessings.”

Millions on social media continue to send wholesome messages Madonna’s way as she recovers.
