Palin came into the national spotlight as Sen. John McCain's running mate for the 2008 general election. The pair lost the race to Barak Obama and Joe Biden. Since the loss, the former Governor appeared on numbers conservative talk shows. She later became a reality TV star and political commentator and even recently appeared on Fox's Masked Singer.

The couple met in high school and eloped in 1988. They share five children together. The couple always presented themselves as having a close relationship built on Christian values. The family has had its fair share of controversy involving their eldest son and daughter. But the couple always seems to manage though any negative press.

Sources close to the Palins were generally shocked to hear of the divorce. Todd Palin apparently initially filed for divorce in November of 2019, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The divorce was finalized in late March after a non-contested hearing.

Although most of the details of the divorce are not public, sources close to the couple say that Todd was seeking joint custody of their youngest son and fair division of their assets. Palin has only made one public comment in regards the end of her marriage so far. She told Dr. James Dobson in a podcast last fall that it wasn’t easy to talk about. “It was devastating," she said. “I thought I got shot.”
