If you haven’t caught wind of the latest makeup hack that makeup artists are going berserk over, get ready to spend less than $10 and to completely change the way you apply under-eye concealer.
You might not believe this hack works — you’re not alone. It seems like everyone who tries it is bewildered by how easily it smoothens their under-eye area and keeps concealer looking perfect for hours. Rise Does Makeup is no exception:
Here, Rosa shares Scott Barnes’ most recent, viral makeup hack for younger-looking eyes.
Apply Aquaphor Under Your Eyes
So, what’s the big, secret hack? Ready for it?
Apply Aquaphor under your eyes prior to applying concealer — yes, that’s it!
Aquaphor is the lip balm you likely use to conquer chapped lips — and you probably never imagined it should be applied under your eyes. But, as Risa discovers after trying out this hack, it works like a charm.
Here are her steps.
Step One: start with a clean, bare face. Simply take your Aquaphor lip balm and go under your eyes with it, giving the skin a few swipes. Risa shows us how Barnes also puts Aquaphor along the nasolabial folds to help smoothen creases.
Step Two: Apply Concealer
With Aquaphor in place on your skin, take your concealer and a brush. Tap your concealer under your eyes, over the balm. You can then follow up by patting your makeup in place with your ring finger. This helps blend it because the warmth of your fingertips helps mesh the product in with your skin.
Step Three: Apply Foundation and Setting Powder
Risa follows Barnes’ application method of applying foundation over the concealer and Aquphor and follows this up with a translucent setting powder. You won’t need to “bake” with powder — a light dusting is fine.
Risa shows us the results of her makeup application in natural light and we can see that her makeup isn’t cakey Five hours later: same results — her concealer and foundation stayed in place. Risa did say she wants to test this application method out a few more times, as well as on her 67-year-old mother, before saying for sure that it’s a keeper. But considering how affordable Aquaphor lip balm is, it’s one worth trying!
