If you’ve scrolled BeautyTok lately, (the fan-dubbed section of TikTok videos that centers around makeup trends and DIY instructions), you might have stumbled upon the ‘siren eye’ vs. ‘doe eye’ debate.
While the ‘doe eye’ trend could be linked to looks rocked by Twiggy or other 60s-esque styles, the ‘siren eye’ look, seems to be more inspired by Alexa Demie‘s Euphoria looks— complete with thicker, longer lines (that don’t just jut out from the end of one’s eye, but also include one at the inner corner as well).
While this look is also made with sky-high lashes, it also features much darker eyeshadow and a more blended wing overall. This left us wondering, how could those of us with hooded eyes rock this style? We checked in with professional makeup artists Pedro Gonzalez-Curiel, brand and product development manager at LUXIE Beauty, and Eugenia Garnes, esthetician and makeup artist at Golidluxe Beauty Bar for tips on how to do so.

Tip #1— Adjust The Angle Of The Wing
While ‘siren eyes’ may seem like they require an ultra-elongated wing, Gonzalez-Curiel explains that doing so with hooded eyes can create a more ‘droopy’ effect which you’d want to avoid. Instead, he suggests making a wing that is designed to lift your eye shape (after all, more eyeshadow blending for a ‘siren’ look can be added later!)
“I have seen this many times where eyeliner is applied and creates a droopy eye instead of a lifted eye shape,” he says. “This makes your eyes and skin look like they are sagging, and makes you look more mature than you are.” The best practice, he adds, is to “not go all the way to the end of your eye with the eyeliner.”
He advises to “start lifting a couple of centimeters after the highest point of your eyes. Then connect the wing at the same angle you started from the edge of your top eyelid.” Not only will this open your eyes, he notes, but it will lift them, as well.

As Donya Momenian of Teen Vogue explains, “Siren eyes feature a sharp wing that extends farther out both ways, with the inner corners of the eyes being accentuated with an equally sharp point and oftentimes, a darkly-lined waterline.” If your wing looks a *tad* bit different from the OG ‘siren eye’ videos on TikTok, it’s okay!
What really matters, as Gonzalez-Curiel explains, is that you aren’t making your eyes look “droopy” while trying to follow the trend— it can be adapted to fit your eye shape. Garnes adds that you might find making your look easier by “using an eye pencil to firstly map out the shape you want.”
To do so, she says to “draw a line from the inner corner of your eye outward. Then, create a wing by drawing a line from the outer corner of your eye upward.” In addition, it’s also vital to “choose the right liner.” When it comes to creating a cat eye, Garnes points out that you want to use a liner that is creamy and easy to apply. “Gel liners are a great option, as they glide on smoothly and can be easily blended,” she notes.

#2— Find The Best False Eyelashes For Your Eye Shape
Many TikTok ‘siren eye’ videos show someone using fake eyelashes or falsies, and while this isn’t required, Garnes notes that they can give you a much more bold and powerful look, even with hooded eyes.
First, it’s important to find the right style of lash for your eye shape. “If you have round eyes, go for a flared or cat-eye style. If you have almond-shaped eyes, try a winged style,” she says. For those of us with hooded eyes, Garnes says to “choose a long, full lash.”

Once you’ve found the perfect style, it’s time to apply the adhesive, and then, “use individual lashes rather than strips.” Apply a small amount of glue to the base of each lash, Garnes says, then wait 20-30 seconds for the glue to become tacky before attaching the lash to your eyelid. “Once all of your lashes are in place,” she concludes, “finish with a coat of mascara to blend your natural lashes with the falsies.”
Ultimately, like most makeup trends, your best look will come through trial and error. Just because you have hooded eyes does not mean that you can’t rock a ‘siren eye.’ You just have to make sure your wing is angled more upwards to avoid droopiness, and that your false lashes (if you choose to apply them) look long and full to more resemble the TikTok videos!
