Margot Robbie Smolders In An Ab-Baring Cutout Dress On The Cover Of ‘Vanity Fair’

Margot Robbie stunned on the latest Vanity Fair cover in a black cutout dress that highlighted her sculpted abs and toned figure. The Oscar nominee, 32, donned a sultry piece from Alaïa that featured long sleeves, a high turtleneck and a central cut-out that revealed her entire midriff.The dress was complete with a low-waisted, cinched skirt with ruching detailing, and Robbie posed for the magazine’s December 2022/ January 2023 issue while standing beside a windowed door and in front of a white, carved floral wall.
The Barbie star looked into the camera as the sunlight came in, highlighting her curve-hugging ensemble and minimal makeup look that emphasized her natural beauty. For the profile story, Robbie opened up about her role in the upcoming period comedy-drama Babylon, how her Pirates of the Caribbean spin-off was axed, learning to cope with fame at a young age, and how that viral image of her ‘crying’ outside Cara Delevingne‘s house back in September wasn’t what it seemed to be.
To complete her look for the cover image, the Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey alum wore her signature long blonde tresses down, parted in the middle and styled into elegant, loose waves. As for her makeup look, the I, Tonya actress went for subtle rosy eyeshadow that helped dazzle up her blue eyes even more, delicate mascara, a touch of blush and highlighter on her high cheekbones, and a nude lip.
Robbie seemed to emulate Sharon Tate for the photo, who she portrayed in the 2019 film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, while also giving her look a modern spin with the asymmetrical cutout of her dress. Robbie also donned other outfits for the profile story’s shoot, including a black, one-shoulder Loewe dress with a side cut-out and flower appliqué piece, a low-cut, waist-cinching Et Ochs jumpsuit, and more.
When sitting down with the publication, Robbie opened up about one of her “lowest” moments— grappling with instant fame and not feeling prepared for it after starring in the 2013 film Wolf of Wall Street beside Leonardo DiCaprio. “Something was happening in those early stages and it was all pretty awful, and I remember saying to my mom, ‘I don’t think I want to do this,'” Robbie recalled, “And she just looked at me, completely straight-faced, and was like, ‘Darling, I think it’s too late not to.’ That’s when I realized the only way was forward.”Robbie revealed that she is now better equipped emotionally to deal with overwhelming fame, “I know how to go through airports, and now I know who’s trying to f—k me over in what ways,” she said.
The Amsterdam star also talked about her idea for a “female-led” Pirates of the Caribbean spin-off, which was ultimately axed. “We had an idea and we were developing it for a while, ages ago, to have more of a female-led — not totally female-led, but just a different kind of story — which we thought would’ve been really cool, but I guess they don’t want to do it,” she shared. The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news that Robbie would star in a new Pirates-related film back in June of 2020. The project would have seen her reunite with Christina Hodson, the screenwriter for Birds of Prey (who was ready to write the Pirates spinoff).
Robbie also cleared the air when it came to those viral images of her (that circulated on the internet months ago) outside her friend Cara Delevingne’s house and appearing to be crying. While many reports said that Robbie was leaving the home of actress and model Delevingne, 30, Robbie told Vanity Fair that she actually just had “something” in her eye, and that the pics weren’t even taken outside Delevingne’s home at all. When Robbie’s mother called her about the images and asked if she and Delevingne were okay, Robbie told her, “‘First of all, yes and yes,'” she remembered, telling Vanity Fair. “‘And second of all, I’m not at Cara’s house— I’m outside an Airbnb that I was renting for five days! And I’m not crying!'” Robbie clarified.
