Everyone who has seen the Barbie movie – or at the very least, seen the trailer – will be in agreement that Margot Robbie absolutely nailed the role, and no other actress in Hollywood would have been a better option for the part. The 33-year-old Oscar-nominated actress is the epitome of Barbie – or stereotypical Barbie, to use the correct description of her character in the movie – but some fans have been wondering whether she had some extra help, shall we say, to look the part…
While no one can deny the excellence of the hair, makeup, and wardrobe departments in the movie, and by extension, the promo trail, many fans think that Margot went down the cosmetic surgery route to *really* transform herself into the Mattel doll. And pictures taken from before she started working on the movie compared with pictures taken afterwards are what seem to have got the internet speculating!
Did Margot Robbie Have Plastic Surgery To Look Like Barbie?
The Wolf of Wall Street alum's appearance has been analyzed quite a lot over the past few years, with many fans thinking she may have had a rhinoplasty and some sort of eye surgery such as a blepharoplasty, for example, as the size and shape of her nose and eyes seem to be very different to how they were at the start of her career. But that is only the beginning, as fans and professionals alike think she has had fresh cosmetic surgery for her Barbie role!
On a July 21st Instagram post, cosmetic procedure influencer Dana Omari Harrell discussed the I, Tonya star's transformation by sharing some before and after photos, as well as her thoughts on what procedures she thinks Margot may have had done. In the same post, she also brought up her previous appearance on the Dream Bigger Podcast back in October last year, which saw her discuss the Suicide Squad star's appearance after Siffat Haider asked her about her favorite celebrity transformation.

A Cosmetic Procedure Influencer Weighs In
Dana's Instagram caption referenced that moment, and she wrote: "@siffhaider asked me who was my fave celeb transformation nearly a year ago (Oct 2022) on @thedreambiggerpodcast and I answered, 'Margot Robbie' bc she went from beautiful girl to IT GIRL BARBIE STUNNING but still looks natural. Incredible work."
Speaking of incredible work, what work does she think Margot has had done to contribute to her Barbie-esque appearance? According to her caption, everything from an upper blepharoplasty and other eye procedures, lip filler, and another nose job, among many other things! "She has had an upper bleph (esp removing some fat under her brow), undereye filler or other augmentation, a minimal brow lift, cheek augmentation, buccal fat removal, lip filler, nose job thinning her tip and reducing the width of her nostrils, and I agree with @lorryhill either a cantho when she did bleph or something else changing her eye shape a bit," she wrote. "I also think maybe just a little volume to her chin as her chin has more length now. I also think she uses Botox or similar but sparingly, just enough to soften but not enough to prevent movement." Wow – that's a *lot* of alleged treatments!
Doctors And Plastic Surgeons Share Their Thoughts
Skincare expert Dr. Lusanik Galustanian, MD, also brought up this point on Instagram, how fans think Margot may have gotten the trendy and celeb-fave buccal fat removal surgery.
In her July 25th Instagram post caption, the doctor wrote: "Real life Barbie! Margot Robbie has always been pretty but now she looks flawless. Some argue that she’s had an upper bleph, rhinoplasty and buccal fat pad removal."
The expert noted that while many are quick to believe Margot went under the knife, any changes to her face over the years "can also happen naturally with age," she stressed.
She then asked fans: "Do you guys think she’s had any work done?" Many headed to the comment section (and the one from the aforementioned, previous post) to also share their thoughts, and note whether or not they believed Margot got buccal fat removal, among other procedures.
This summer, TikTok-popular plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn, MD, also shared his thoughts after fans asked him to make a video and analyze Margot's features.
On July 20th, he shared a video with his 8.3 million followers and began with photos of Margot at 18. He showed viewers that she had "puffiness under her eyes," and this puffiness disappeared in photos of her at 19 and every year after. This, he said, could be a "sign of blepharoplasty," which is an eyelid surgery.
He then started breaking down shots of Margot from 2011, where he said she might have been "flirting with filler into her cheeks and lips." Other than just a "hint of filler here or there as the years go by," Youn said she "doesn't look like she's had a whole lot of [work] done." He stressed that Margot has always looked "naturally beautiful with great skincare."
He also further proved his point by adding a recent video of her where he denounced rumors of her getting Botox, as her forehead lines were "moving normally," and there was "no Botox in there."
Other than "maybe getting her eyelids done many years ago," Youn ultimately believed that "Margot's hardly had any plastic surgery," noting that "she is real."
Fan Speculation
Many fans were quick to slam other fans' previous comments about Margot not having any work done, with them simply crediting age for her different appearance. "I can’t believe people still fall for 'she grew out of her baby face phase.' Honey, it’s called having money and good surgeon," wrote one fan, followed by the crying laughing emoji. "'No work done?' Her eye area is completely different... huge and awake looking... that does not happen as you age," said another, followed by another crying laughing emoji.
Many others simply complimented the alleged work, with one writing, "I don’t think she had buccal fat removed, she thinned out from her baby face. The rest is obvious though. She’s had some very tasteful work done," and another adding, "Eyelids don’t get bigger for more room for fun makeup just with age – no way. Her transformation is so subtle, it’s honestly chef's kiss." "Do we have any idea about who did her nose? The transformation is simply amazing, looks so natural," complimented another fan, followed by the hand praising emoji."She looks natural but at the same time it's kinda obvious she had work done. Looks stunning!" exclaimed another.
