Fans are raving about Margot Robbie‘s latest red carpet look, saying “She looks so good when she isn’t wearing Chanel.”
The Barbie actress attended the premiere of Wes Anderson’s new film Asteroid City in New York City on June 13th wearing a two-tone Schiaparelli minidress, in a departure from her usual looks—Margot is herself an ambassador for Chanel, and most often wears the luxury brand’s clothing at events (to the apparent frustration of fans).
Margot Robbie Sizzles In Black And White Schiaparelli Minidress
Margot was truly a vision in the stylish outfit, which featured a black and white Schiaperelli minidress from the fashion house's spring/summer 2023 couture collection. The dress sports a black strapless peplum top with a sweetheart neckline paired with a white ruffled miniskirt, all brought in at the waist with a thin belt with a gold buckle. The Babylon star coupled the look with black pointed-toe pumps and minimal jewelry comprised of a diamond ring and diamond necklace. Margot complemented the adorable outfit with long wavy hair, fresh-faced makeup with a berry-colored lip, and a deep red manicure.
This is not the first time the actress has made waves on a red carpet as of late: at this year's Met Gala, Margot arrived in a Chanel dress meant to re-create a black one-shoulder gown from the fashion house's spring 1993 Haute Couture collection. It was a dramatic difference from Margot's Asteroid City premiere look, featuring an over-the-shoulder sash attached to the elegant dress and a sheer corset bodice with gold-chain-woven strap boning.
Fans Celebrate: 'She's Been Freed From The Tweed!'
Though Margot is obviously a devotee of Chanel, being a brand ambassador, it seems many fans have gotten tired of the actress always wearing the house's looks—and her red carpet Schiaparelli statement had commenters raving with praise on Instagram.

"The freedom on her face from Chanel is her best look yet," quipped one fan on an image of Margot wearing the two-tone dress. Another added in an apparent reference to Chanel's longtime use of the fabric, "She’s been freed from the tweed. Praise be!" A different Instagram user noted, "She looks so good when she isn’t wearing Chanel."
It wasn't all digs at Chanel in the comments, however—many Instagram users simply enjoyed seeing Margot in the flattering minidress. "Oh yeessssssss Margot in Schiaparelli!!! A dream!" gushed one user. "Not fussed on the pleated skirt part, but I love the bodice and how structured it is," reasoned another. One commenter added, "Thank god for the new stylist."
However, the vibe of the fashion fans could be summed up in one response: "Yes, queen! You are free from Chanel," cheered an ecstatic commenter. Margot has been a Chanel ambassador since 2018, and has worn the brand at a wide range of events aside from the 2023 Met Gala, including at this year's Golden Globes and at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019.
