Marjorie Taylor Greene claimed on social media that President Joe Biden was part of a plot to assassinate Donald Trump back in 2022.
Greene, a far-right politician and conspiracy theorist who has been the U.S. representative for Georgia’s 14th congressional district since 2021, made the bold claim in an X post on May 21st after re-tweeting some of Trump’s previous posts about the FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago.
If you’ll recall, the 77-year-old former president’s Mar-a-Lago property was raided on August 8th, 2022 to recover boxes containing top-secret documents that shouldn’t have been there. He is currently facing charges for allegedly mishandling the classified documents by taking them to his Florida home after leaving office. According to a May 21st CBS News article, Trump “has pleaded not guilty to all charges related to his alleged mishandling of sensitive government documents.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Donald Trump Assassination Claims
“The Biden DOJ and FBI were planning to assassinate Pres Trump and gave the green light,” Greene’s X post read. “Does everyone get it yet?! What are Republicans going to do about it?” she asked, adding: “I tried to oust our Speaker who funded Biden’s DOJ AND FBI, but Democrats stopped it.”
Greene’s claim comes after Trump took to his Truth Social platform to lash out at the August 2022 raid. Trump’s post, which Greene shared a screenshot of in the above post, read: “WOW! I just came out of the Biden Witch Hunt Trial in Manhattan, the ‘Icebox,’ and was shown Reports that Crooked Joe Biden’s DOJ, in their Illegal and Unconstitutional Raid of Mar-a-Lago, authorized the FBI to use deadly (lethal) force.”
He added: “Now we know, for sure, that Joe Biden is a serious threat to democracy. He is mentally unfit to hold office – 25th amendment.”
Earlier this month, Trump emailed his supporters with the subject: "This is an Alert from Donald Trump."
The email read: "DEADLY FORCE? Biden authorized it. They brought guns to the raid on Mar-a-Lago!" Also in the email, Trump added: "I'm sick and tired of the Radical Left destroying this country and trying to destroy me. Here's the bottom line: I WILL NEVER SURRENDER. AND NEITHER WILL YOU!"
The FBI Followed 'Standard Protocol' During Mar-A-Lago Raid
The "deadly force" phrase Trump referenced is reportedly a standard policy statement used for issuing search warrants, and was not unique to the FBI's search of Mar-a-Lago. Still, the FBI issued a response following Trump's "deadly force" claims.
The statement read: "The FBI followed standard protocol in this search as we do for all search warrants, which includes a standard policy statement limiting the use of deadly force."
"No one ordered additional steps to be taken and there was no departure from the norm in this matter," the statement added, seemingly suggesting that the assassination rumors are false.
