What’s Inside The McDonald’s Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry?
McDonald’s already sells a Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry in Singapore, which is made with vanilla ice cream, Oreo cookie crumbles, and sweet strawberry jelly. However, a McDonald’s spokesperson told Today that the American version will instead be made with a “creamy vanilla soft serve, strawberry-flavored clusters and crispy, buttery shortbread cookies”—so, no Oreo in this one!
McDonald’s Bids Adieu To The Shamrock McFlurry and Hello To Strawberry Shortcake
The limited edition Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry will sit aside the current flavors sold in the U.S., including the classic Oreo McFlurry and M&M McFlurry. In March, McDonald’s brought back the Oreo Shamrock McFlurry again for St. Patrick’s Day, which first debuted in 2020. We might see the Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry stay around if it proves as successful as its Shamrock counterpart.
The latest McFlurry addition comes alongside other new menu options for the U.S. market, including Strawberries And Crème mini pies and breakfast bagels which were both re-introduced this March.
Here’s What Shoppers Have To Say About McDonald’s New Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry
While many fans are excited about a new menu item from the double-arched chain, others question the chain’s precarious ice cream machines, which often get meme’d for never working. It’s gone so far that there’s even a website (mcbroken.com) now that tracks if your local McDonald’s ice cream machine is down or operating.

In the announcement on @snackolator’s Instagram account, one fan commented, “Unfortunately we will never know due to the broken machine,” which garnered over four hundred likes in agreement. Another user replied, “Stop innovating flavors when the dang machine never works.”

Others on the announcement were less concerned about the broken ice cream machines and more interested in other flavors the chain could offer instead. One user wrote, “I wish it was golden Oreos or some kind of Graham cracker/shortcake swirl” instead. Over three hundred users agreed by liking the comment, and one user replied, “Yeah, that would be better than regular Oreo,” and then added, “I feel like this will throw it off.”
New menu drops are always exciting, especially for something as highly regarded as the McFlurry. But as some customers note, if McDonald’s ice cream machines stay broken around the country, the Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry might have trouble taking off. Regardless, we hope we can get our hands on one to try!
