McDonald’s is leaning into the season of nostalgia, delighting customer across the nation by bringing back the iconic new collectible cups. Though they aren’t the cadmium-tainted glasses like they were when first came out in the 1970s—they’re made from plastic—customers are just as excited to get their hands on all six. McDonald's Brings Back Collectible Cups
The six cups have different designs: graphic scenes celebrating Barbie, Hello Kitty, Beanie Babies, the Coca-Cola polar bear, Shrek, and McDonald's mascots like Grimace. These cups aren't available for purchase, per se, rather you have to order a collector's meal, which comes with 10-piece McNuggets or a Big Mac, plus fries, a drink, and of course, a collector's cup.
Unfortunately, you can't choose which collector's cup you'll get, instead they're randomly selected as par of the collector's meal. McDonald's announced the launch of the collector's meal on their Instagram with a tiered graphic of the cups, writing in the caption, "in 20 years ur gonna be happy u collected all 6 limited edition cups. Collector’s Meal 8.13." Beginning today, you can visit your local McDonald's for your very own collector's cup.

McDonald's Customers 'Can't Wait' For New Collectible Cups
In the comment section of McDonald's Instagram announcement, fans celebrated with over 275,000 likes and hundreds of comments. "Need the Hello Kitty one biblically," one person wrote.
"McDonald's this is so important to me, you don't understand!" another wrote.
"Can't wait!" a third user posted.
"Looks like I'm eating McDonald's for the next month," shared one customer.
"Obsessed with the Shrek one," said another customer. "Will be ordering as many collector's meals as necessary to stock my entire cupboard with Shrek-themed cups."
"The way that the Barbie one is calling to me," said another. "Will definitely be getting matching ones for my daughter and I, no matter how many Mickey D's trips necessary!"
