Redditors are sending their “condolences” to one unlucky user who received a whopper of a disappointment when they opened their McDonald’s order to find their burger was thinner than “a piece of paper”:
A piece of paper is thicker than a McDonald’s burger

Fans Comment: ‘That Is A Sad Looking Burger’
Users on the subreddit r/FastFoodHorrorStories were horrified at the original poster’s picture-imperfect cheeseburger: “That is a sad looking burger,” wrote one. Another quipped of the comparison to the thinness of paper, “And the paper tastes better and has more nutrients.” Another user made a similar joke: “[Paper] tastes better, too.”
This "sad" burger wasn't the only quality control issue depicted with McDonald's burgers of late—another user posted that they encountered a very unpleasant surprise in their own cheeseburger order:
McDonald’s put this in my burger today…. by u/Lopsided_Mushroom_13 in FastFoodHorrorStories
Fans commiserated about their own bad experiences on that post as well. "I've had that happen. One time I asked for extra pickles and I got the pickles as well as the pickle label with it. I just thought they really didn't like you asking for extra pickles," said one responder.
When it was suggested that OP contact the store and/or corporate to rectify the matter, the original poster responded, "Already tried [to contact the store] and the store manager refused to contact me back...I wrote a complaint to corporate online, let’s see if they even contact me back. This kinda stuff really makes me not wanna eat out anymore…"
McDonald's Changes Classic Burger Recipe
The possible quality control issues are not the only controversy surrounding McDonald's burgers as of late. The chain decided to make rare changes to its classic offering things year by grilling the onions before topping burgers with them, making sure the cheese is melted on cheeseburgers, adding more sauce to Big Macs, and utilizing "softer, [more] pillowy buns that are freshly toasted to a golden brown." Not everyone was thrilled with the changes, with some fans with onion allergies concerned that they won't be able to order burgers anymore as they will be cooked on the same griddle with the now-grilled onions.
As someone who hates onions, I’m worried about McDonald’s new policy of cooking onions directly on the grill. I won’t eat White Castle burgers for this very reason. https://t.co/27RCKkHShD

I have a significant intolerance to onions. They make me quite ill within 15 -20 mins. So when I heard about this new recipe McDonald’s is rolling out,my first thought was I won’t be able to eat burgers there

I guess McDonald's really doesn't want my business. In their grand wisdom they are going to make burgers with onions already in the patties it's not bad enough they are already put a million onions on there. Now we don't get a choice

To these concerns, McDonald's Twitter simply stated, "You can always choose to customize your order to suit your needs," though this does not solve the cross-contamination issue with cooking the onions on the same griddle as the burgers.
