Big Mac Lovers, Take Note: McDonald’s Is Releasing A Chicken Version Sooner Than You Think

McDonald’s is rolling out a whole new recipe for the Big Mac: the Chicken Big Mac!
The Chicago-based fast food chain announced last week that it would be testing the sandwich in select Miami locations later this month. The poultry version of the bestseller had previously been tested worldwide, with last year’s U.K. version receiving “rave reviews” and even selling out (a la Taco Bell’s Mexican Pizza).
The Sandwich Wars-take on the classic beef burger includes two tempura chicken patties, pickles, shredded lettuce, and American cheese. Yum!
Positive reviews from the U.K. test, along with CEO Chris Kempczinski calling chicken “a priority area” on their second-quarter earning calls, as well as chicken being more cost-effective than beef right now, have led us here.
The Chicken Big MacThe new sandwich comes on the heels of Burger King revamping their own chicken offering by swapping Ch’King sandwiches with a new line of BK Royal Crispy Chicken sandwiches.
Going further back, the introduction of Popeyes’ chicken sandwich in 2019 sparked a Twitter feud with Chick-fil-A dubbed “The Chicken Sandwich Wars.” Since then, many other U.S. chains have started offering their own take on the chicken sandwich.
McDonald’s reveals in a statement that more twists on their menu staples may be coming down the line.
“We’re always looking to give our fans more ways to enjoy the classic menu items they know and love,” McDonald’s revealed in a statement.
“While not everything we test makes it on our U.S. menus, we’ll use this time to gather feedback from both customers and restaurant crew as we consider opportunities to offer more delicious options in the future,” they revealed of the Miami test. Fingers crossed it does well there so we can try it!
