A McDonald’s Employee Just Revealed The ‘Nasty’ Way McRib Sandwiches Are Made—And Customers Are Gagging

Fans of McDonald’s McRib sandwiches are rethinking their favorite order at the fast food chain after a viral video began circling Twitter this week, supposedly showing how the menu items are really made.
In the trending clip, an alleged McDonald’s employee shows viewers (what many later dubbed to be the “nasty process”) behind creating the signature food item. Fans can see frozen blocks of the “rib” product being shockingly thrown onto a grill in batches of six.
After the rib-shaped frozen items were thawed out, they were then removed from the grill and placed into pullout drawer containers filled with thick, (as one fan put it, “gross-looking”) brown sauce.
These coated, slimy slabs were then put on top of onions and pickles and then added to a toasted bun. They were then (and this was probably the most surprising part to viewers) boxed up and sent down a chute to fulfill a McRib order.
One Twitter user who re-posted the video (which currently boasts over 1.2 million views), suggested that the McRibs might not even be “considered food” as more than 3,000 commenters added their thoughts in a lengthy thread. Their caption read, “Can this even be considered food? A McDonald’s worker decides to reveal how a McRib is made.”
One viewer responded to this, writing, “It looks like a fried kitchen sponge soaked in BBQ sauce,” as another seemed to agree with their disgusted sentiment, adding, “Wow I don’t eat pork but wow that’s NASTY.” Another user chimed in with their repulsed response to the clip, tweeting, “I just threw up in my mouth. Just a little.”
Other die-hard McDonald’s customers and McRibs fans didn’t seem too bothered by the video, with one replying to the previous commenters, “This is literally how every grilled item is made at McDonald’s. I fail to see the point.”
Someone else seemed to concur, tweeting, “Not saying these are fine dining or anything, but … that’s just what frozen ground meat looks like. Yeah, it’s shaped and molded to resemble (ish) pork ribs, but I’m unmoved by this. McRibs taste pretty good for what they are.” (The debate continues…)
The official McDonald’s Twitter account notably revealed on October 24th that while the McRib sandwiches are returning to menus on Halloween, fans can expect to say goodbye to the food in the future. “The mcrib is coming back 10.31 but this is its farewell tour,” the chain wrote.
