McDonald’s announced a new initiative to help first responders and healthcare workers during COVID-19. The fast food chain is introducing “Thank You Meals” for those working on the front lines of the pandemic.

Through May 5, health care workers and first responders (police officers, firefighters and paramedics) can get a free meal at participating McDonald’s locations nationwide.

The company's press release states: "The Thank You Meal, available during breakfast, lunch or dinner, will feature a choice of sandwiches, drinks, and a side featuring small World Famous Fries or a Hash Brown, along with a note of appreciation. It will be served in McDonald’s iconic Happy Meal box, in the hopes of bringing a smile along with delicious food."

They are also offering an array of options.

For breakfast, they have the choice of an Egg McMuffin®, Chicken McGriddles® or a Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit. Each comes with a Hash Brown and a drink of their choice (soft drinks, tea, or hot coffee).

For lunch and dinner, they have the choice of a Double Cheeseburger, 6-Piece Chicken McNuggets® or a Filet-O-Fish®. Each comes with small fries and a drink of their choice.

In order to get the free meal, the health care workers and first responders can show their work badge or ID or be in uniform.

There is also a limit of one Thank You Meal per day per customer.
