When it comes to delicious food at an affordable price, there's no place better than McDonald's. There's no doubt that the popular chain is home to some tasty menu items, but most of them have some pretty unhealthy nutrition facts. If you're in the mood for some Mickey D's but don't want to totally wreck your diet, nutritionists recommend ordering an Egg McMuffin to stay on track with your weight loss and get that flat stomach of your dreams!

McDonald's Egg McMuffin combines eggs, Canadian bacon and American cheese with a toasted English muffin. Unlike McDonald's folded eggs and scrambled eggs, the McMuffin eggs are preservative-free and actually use a freshly cracked egg, making this breakfast sandwich a healthy and protein-packed way to start your morning.

“Not only do I eat guilt-free at McDonald's, I think they get a bad rap all too often. When I’m flying in the morning, I typically get an Egg McMuffin and a coffee. The sandwich only has 300 calories and it offers 18 grams of satiety-providing protein. Instead of the egg white version, I stick with the whole egg sandwich because the yolk contains carotenoids, essential fatty acids, vitamins and minerals," Christine M. Palumbo, MBA, RDN, FAND, a Chicago-area registered dietitian and nutrition communications consultant, tells Eat This, Not That!
If you want to make your Egg McMuffin even healthier, we recommend asking for the sandwich without the Canadian bacon or American cheese. This way, you're getting less calories and sodium while still being able to enjoy the sandwich!
