McDonald’s Just Announced A Major Change To Their Chicken Nuggets—All We Can Say Is Wow!

McDonalds is spicing up their nugget options in Japan, and as Eat This, Not That writes, the U.S. could be next. The American fast food chain is reportedly now offering limited-time “Peppercorn Garlic Spicy Chicken McNuggets” with two new sauces— the garlic soy sauce mayo and the smoked cheese— now debuting in Japan.

This latest nugget experiment and new releases come after Americans showed their desire for spicier nuggets or options with more flavor. As you might remember in 2020, McDonald’s debuted a very successful, limited-time “Spicy Chicken McNugget” menu item in the U.S., and the nuggets sold out nationwide within a month.

A recent Change.org petition, “Bring Back McDonald’s Spicy Nuggets for good” was started, and users continue to sign and comment, hoping to bring their favorite food back to McDonald’s restaurants.

The brand new nugget options in Japan offer American McDonald’s frequenters hope in that the chain can offer spicier nuggets in the future. The “Peppercorn Garlic” nuggets there are made with a mix of coarse-ground black pepper, garlic, white pepper, and chili peppers. The two new sauces—the mayo and the smoked cheese— are seasoned with a mixture of black pepper and onion powder.

Time will tell if these options ever reach the U.S. or if the beloved spicy nuggets will ever make their return, but for McDonald’s spicy item fans, this news from Japan brings hope for a more flavorful nugget future.
