A McDonald's Employee Reveals That McCafé Machines Are 'Routinely Neglected'

The apparent employee shared that he has told his managers that the "insides are caked" with bacteria-harboring old grounds, and he even showed them the handfuls described earlier, but "nothing has come of it."

One user joined the thread saying: "I actually had no idea about this. My favorite ice blended coffee was from McDonald’s up until about 30 seconds ago =(."

The same post that detailed the horrors of the frequently "broken" McCafé machines was also recently featured in a TikTok captioned: "Fast Food to Avoid."

Users in the comment chimed in with their personal stories and to share their disgust, while some attempted to debunk original claims made.

One user validated the original post by saying, besides his manager, he's the only employee "that bothers to clean it [the McCafe machine]."

"Okay ngl the mccafé one scared me," one commenter added.

"At this point we shouldn't eat at fast food chains anyway," another commenter said.

One commenter added their personal experience, defending the fast food chain's specialty drinks by saying, “as a McDonald’s worker I can personally say that the ‘McCafe’ machines literally do not work if they are not cleaned,  they will not turn back on whatsoever.”

Maybe that explains why we are frequently greeted with “the machine is down,” when ordering a caramel frappé? However, from the sounds of it, that might be for the better.
