There’s a long list of people who don’t have nice things to say about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Piers Morgan is undoubtedly one of them, and some of Meghan’s former aides – who reportedly call themselves ‘The Sussex Survivors’ Club’ and include private secretary Sam Cohen, communications chief Sara Latham, and assistant press secretary Marnie Gaffney – appear to be some of the others!

According to an extract from The Times‘ royal correspondent Valentine Low’s new book, Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown, which was first published in the Sunday Times, both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex allegedly bullied their members of staff (although they have vehemently denied it and their names have since been cleared following an investigation) to the extent that it left them “broken” and “shaking with fear.”

“So bad did things eventually become that Harry and Meghan’s team would later refer to themselves as the ‘Sussex Survivors’ Club,'” Low wrote. “Sources say the team came up with a damning epithet for Meghan: a ‘narcissistic sociopath’. They also reportedly said on repeated occasions: ‘We were played.'”

“Everyone knew that the institution would be judged by her happiness,” an insider told Low. “The mistake they made was thinking that she wanted to be happy. She wanted to be rejected, because she was obsessed with that narrative from day one.”

Low also recalled how the mom-of-two clashed with staffers over the royal protocol surrounding free gifts, as personal assistant Melissa Toubari allegedly told her that it is forbidden for members of the royal family to accept freebies from commercial organizations, which reportedly “did not go down well with Meghan.”

“Clashes centered on the free gifts that some companies would send Meghan,” Low continued. “Deliveries were constantly arriving at Kensington Palace. Clothes, jewelry, candles… it was non-stop,” Low added, according to an insider.

Low’s book also references a particularly “rude” incident involving Prince Harry and some members of the press after he and Meghan flew from Sydney to Tonga, whereby the Duke appeared to mock and ridicule the photographers who had been waiting for him and Meghan. FYI, it is considered “standard” for members of the royal family to thank members of the press when they get off a plane, which Prince Harry did not do…

“I remember the scene well. Harry looked like a sulky teenager, Meghan stood behind him, smiling benignly. Her only contribution was a comment about how much everyone must be looking forward to Sunday lunch at home,” Low recalled. “Harry sounded rushed, as if he couldn’t wait to get back into the first-class cabin. ‘Thanks for coming’, he said, ‘even though you weren’t invited.'” When aides allegedly told him he had offended the members of the press with his “spectacularly rude” comment, Prince Harry allegedly said: “Well, you shouldn’t have made me do it.”
