The Duchess of Sussex, aka Meghan Markle, is proving that power suiting is always a great option for dressy occasions when you don’t know what to wear. Her royal highness just stepped out with the Duke (that’s Harry, if you’re nasty) at Loughborough University for the first Coach Core Awards rocking a pair of wide leg black trouser pants that would make the perfect addition to any wardrobe.
She skirted royal tradition (pun in addition) for the event that supports young people becoming involved in sports coaching, wearing a navy Oscar de la Renta top and black trousers by Altuzarra, and black pumps from Aquazurra, rather than the usual skirt or dress royals wear. Stunning!
Like Kate Middleton before her, Markle participated in a ball game with the students. Although her outfit was significantly less sporty than the Duchess of Cambridge’s, who has opted for workout leggings and trainers for previous appearances. Markle also wore minimal jewelry from Pascale Monvoisin (necklace) and Catbird (ring).
This isn’t the first time Meghan has reached for the $800 Altuzarra pants for a royal event. Earlier this month, she rocked a pantsuit set from the brand to the WellChild Awards:
The fact that she’s repeated these trousers multiple times just proves how incredibly flattering, sleek and sensible they are. Yes, they’re a splurge–but one that you’ll get *TONS* of wears out of. Pair then with pointy toe pumps like Meghan’s, as well as a pretty, statement blouse (points for tucking or half-tucking!) and you really can’t go wrong.
