Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been making headlines since their bombshell interview with Oprah on March 7, and now past bullying allegations leveraged against Markle are being looked into by the palace after claims were made just days before the tell-all. Markle’s team has staunchly denied the allegations, but Buckingham Palace has reportedly launched an outside investigation to determine the legitimacy of the complaints.

The Times has reported that a third party will now be involved in the investigation following claims from a former aide that Markle bullied her while she was still living at Kensington Palace. The investigation was initially intended to be in-house, but has since expanded to bring in an outside law firm.
The Times initially reported on March 2 that Markle allegedly drove out two personal assistants during her time at the palace and “was undermining the confidence of a third staff member.” A statement from the palace was later released, saying, “The Royal Household has had a Dignity at Work policy in place for a number of years and does not and will not tolerate bullying or harassment in the workplace.”
The bullying allegations were made just days before Markle’s tell-all interview with Oprah, and the Duchess has received an onslaught of support from the public following the probe into these claims. A representative from Markle’s team released a statement which read, “The Duchess is saddened by this latest attack on her character, particularly as someone who has been the target of bullying herself and is deeply committed to supporting those who have experienced pain and trauma. She is determined to continue her work building compassion around the world and will keep striving to set an example for doing what is right and doing what is good.”
While the results of the investigation have yet to be revealed, fans and publications alike have rallied together behind Markle to support her against the seemingly unfounded claims of bullying, as she has faced an onslaught of criticism from the conservative media over the recent months.
