Meghan Markle‘s brand new Netflix show, With Love, Meghan finally dropped on Tuesday, March 4th. And as expected, there were quite a few talking points on the internet.
While the former Suits actress, 43, was mocked and criticized for quite a few things she said and did on her show – including not knowing her good friend and former makeup artist Daniel Martin was left handed – the statement she made to The Office alum Mindy Kaling seemed to stand out the most!
Meghan Markle Corrects Mindy Kaling On Her Name
While the ladies are talking as they are preparing food in the kitchen, the 45-year-old Mindy Project star says: “People wouldn’t believe that Meghan Markle ate at Jack in the Box.”
The As Ever founder then interjects to correct the Sex Lives of College Girls creator, and says: “It’s so funny, too, that you keep saying ‘Meghan Markle.’ You know I’m ‘Sussex’ now.”
The mom-of-two then goes on to talk about how much she loves her Sussex title, which was given to her and Prince Harry by the late Queen Elizabeth II during their royal wedding in 2018, and adds: “You have kids and you go, ‘I share my name with my children.’ I didn’t know how meaningful that would be to me, but it just means so much to go, this is our family name, our little family name.”

Social media was predictably flooded with comments from viewers. "Oh yes, you are Meghan MARKLE! Sussex is a county about which you have no idea! Shameless creature!" exclaimed one X user. "Sussex is her title, her surname is Mountbatten-Windsor," added a second. "Sussex is a title not a surname! That title will never give Meghan the admiration and Hollywood fame she's always craved!" exclaimed a third.
"She can't even look her friend in the eye. She lies so much," slammed a fourth, as a fifth said: "She is insufferable." "Could she name one town in Sussex?" asked a sixth X user, as a seventh said: "How to say you know nothing about England without saying you know nothing about England."
Another unimpressed X user wrote: "Poor Megsy now wants to be known as 'Meghan Sussex' since as a family unit, they should all have the same cherished last name. You can't get more inauthentic and cringeworthy than that! Markle is only an attempting to commercialize the Sussex name like they did their titles." "Imagine her ignorance that she actually believes her last name is Sussex? What a pathetic snob!" criticized another.
