Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got a lot of attention when they attended the premiere of Bob Marley: One Love in Kingston, Jamaica last month.
The Duke of Sussex, 39, looked dapper in a dark navy suit with an unbuttoned white shirt underneath, while the Duchess of Sussex, 42, glowed in a Carolina Herrera black flared maxi skirt and a matching tank top. She accessorized with a black Jimmy Choo box clutch and statement Jennifer Meyer large hammered disc earrings; but the piece of jewelry that got the most attention on the red carpet was her sparkling engagement ring, which was finally back on her ring finger after a mysterious six-month absence.
Meghan Markle Didn't Wear Her Engagement Ring For Most Of 2023
The mom-of-two was noticeably without her engagement ring at the Invictus Games back in September – although her wedding band and eternity ring were still on her finger – and also the month before while dining with friends Kadi Lee (co-founder of the conscious lifestyle brand Highbrow Hippie) and poet Cleo Wade.
As expected, the former Suits actress not wearing her engagement ring for such a long period of time last year didn't stop people from speculating! Many people thought that it signaled divorce rumors, until a source close to the couple tried to set the record straight.
According to People magazine in September 2023: "Meghan's engagement ring is currently being serviced because a setting came loose." Could it really be that simple?
Another theory is that the brunette beauty simply wanted to update the ring's design for the second time, having previously replaced the ring's original gold band with a thin micro-pavé band. You can check out the first transformation here.
TikTok user @hrhgossip had her theories, and said in a video: "Apparently it's been getting fixed, whatever that means. My theory is that it was being upgraded for their fifth wedding anniversary to get like, maybe some extra diamonds for Archie and Lily."
Anya Walsh of online jeweler 77 Diamonds also had a similar theory, and reportedly told GB News that Meghan being without her engagement ring for so long could very well mean that she is changing it again, as simply fixing a setting which had come loose doesn't take months. "Perhaps, she is looking to update her design to something a little more abstract," Walsh speculated, adding: "She could retain the same three diamonds but rearrange them in a cluster that creates a more intriguing pattern. This is something we have seen other celebrities do in the past few years." We can't wait to see a close-up of the engagement ring to see if Walsh's theory is true!
