Whether Meghan Markle chooses a cinched, light-wash denim dress or a curve-hugging, cobalt smocked item, she has proved time and time again that blue is definitely her color! Unsurprisingly, all eyes were on the glowing Duchess of Sussex, 40, in a sapphire gown at the NAACP Image Awards on February 26th, where she and husband Prince Harry made a special appearance. The couple accepted the President’s Award “in recognition of special achievement and distinguished public service” for their non-profit and philanthropic work, and the two honored Black designers with their classy ensembles.

Markle donned a stunning two-tone azure gown by Chistopher John Rogers featuring a one-shoulder cut with an attached train and light-blue cape, as well as a show-stopping high-slit. She added shimmering Aquazzura Celeste sandal heels and topped off her timeless look with dazzling accessories—like the gorgeous gold cuff seen on her arm with diamonds and blue stones that once belonged to Princess Diana. How sweet!

The style icon parted her long, raven locks to the side for a classic swept look styled with romantic curls. Her dangly earrings from Alexis Bittar shined in the spotlight as did her other gold Cartier bracelet. As for makeup, Markle’s deep brown eyes popped with the help of a blended smokey eye, delicate highlight on her cheekbones, and her features were further enhanced with warm blush and a nude pink lip.

Harry wore a stylish black tuxedo from Ozwald Boateng and walked with his wife to accept the award. The couple utilized their time onstage to begin by paying homage to Ukranian people facing devastation and war. “Before we begin, we would like to acknowledge the people of Ukraine who urgently need our continued support as a global community. And I also echo the immense gratitude for tonight, both for this award and to this community for welcoming me so warmly.”

Markle also spoke about the tragic murder of George Floyd, and what prompted them to take to action in their community and beyond. “I couldn’t be prouder that we’re doing this work together. We moved to California, my home state, shortly before the murder of George Floyd, and for Black America, those nine minutes and 29 seconds transcended time, invoking centuries of our unhealed wounds,” said Markle. “In the months that followed, as my husband and I spoke with the civil rights community, we committed ourselves and our organization Archewell, to illuminate those who are advancing racial justice and progress.”

Before leaving the stage, Markle also honored Dr. Safiya Noble, the previous recipient of the award and gave a shout out to her mother Doria Ragland, who attended the event at her and Harry’s side. Overall, Markle’s look, much like her speech and poise, was gracious, elegant, exquisite and unforgettable!
