When Harry and Meghan encouraged Americans to vote against "hate speech, misinformation and online negativity" in the 2020 election, the Royal Family responded to the news by remaining impartial. At the time, a source told the Sunday Times, "We would not comment. The Duke is not a working member of the Royal Family, and any comments he makes are made in a personal capacity."

Likewise, it makes sense that the Royal Family would be unhappy if Meghan becomes more involved in politics.

Not to mention, as an actress-turned-royal, it could be difficult for Markle to enter the political arena anyway. Heritage explains that if she is interested in politics--which is still speculation at this point--she "should probably brace herself for the worst." He continues, "Many, many celebrities before her have attempted to throw their hat into the political ring, but successes have been few and far between."

Although a political future would definitely put added tension on Meghan and Harry's relationship with the Royal Family, it seems that they are currently on good terms. After the couple announced that they are expecting their second child, Buckingham Palace happily responded to the news: "Her Majesty, the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales and the entire royal family are delighted and wish them well."
