King Charles’ historic coronation will take place in less than two months, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex just confirmed that they were indeed invited to the event.
Prince Harry, 38, released his bombshell, tell-all memoir, Spare on January 10th, and in the weeks since, many have wondered whether his father would invite him and wife Meghan Markle, 41, to his big day. While the couple revealed this week that they did receive an emailed invitation, they did not indicate if they are (or aren’t) attending.
The Sussexes Confirm That They Received An Emailed Coronation Invite
King Charles III, 74, will celebrate his coronation on May 6, 2023 at Westminster Abbey in London along with his wife, Camilla, Queen Consort, 75.
While formal invitations reportedly won't be mailed out until April, over the weekend, a spokesperson for Harry and Markle noted that the couple did get a save-the-date email.
"I can confirm the Duke has recently received email correspondence from His Majesty's office regarding the coronation," a spokesperson for the couple said, per the BBC.
Will Harry & Meghan Attend The Historic Event?
While we now know that King Charles did extend an olive branch toward the Sussexes, the question is, will they attend the coronation?
The coronation date also notably falls upon Harry and Markle's son Archie's fourth birthday.
The spokesperson who made the statement for Harry and Markle added, "An immediate decision on whether the Duke and Duchess will attend will not be disclosed by us at this time.” (Time will tell!)
Regarding King Charles' decision that might surprise many, an insider source allegedly told Vanity Fair, "Whatever has been said and done, Harry is still his son and he loves him."
