During the March interview, the couple made the shocking allegation that a member of the royal family had previously made racist remarks about their son Archie, and while they refrained from revealing who exactly made the statement, it was recently revealed that they considered sharing the information.

According to Page Six, the pair considered outing the royal family member who made the racist remarks, but ultimately determined that the information would be too “damaging,” keeping it to themselves. As detailed in an updated version of the book “Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family,” by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, Markle and Prince Harry, debated “sharing this detail,” before the Duchess ultimately told Winfrey “I think it would be very damaging to them.”
The controversy continues to swirl around the shocking claim that Markle and the Prince made back in March that a member of the royal family was heard inquiring about “how dark” Archie’s skin color would be once he was born, with Harry sharing, “That conversation I’m never going to share, but at the time, it was awkward; I was a bit shocked.” What has been confirmed, however, is that it was neither Queen Elizabeth nor Prince Philip who raised this inappropriate and racist question.
Despite the couples’ rocky relationship with the royal family as a whole, Prince Harry reportedly had a “very special” reunion with Queen Elizabeth following Prince Philip’s funeral, with “Finding Freedom” reporting, “Despite everything that has happened, he has the utmost love and respect for her. Her life of duty and service is one of the many ways in which she has inspired him to also serve.”
The new edition of the book with an additional epilogue will go on sale August 31, revealing even more details about the bombshell interview with Oprah, their current standing with the royal family, and more. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have yet to speak out on the book, which was originally published on August 11.
