All eyes were on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on Sunday, August 4th – which also happened to be the former Suits actress’s 43rd birthday! – as their interview with Jane Pauley for CBS Sunday Morning finally aired.

It marked the couple’s first joint interview in three years, following their bombshell conversation with Oprah Winfrey back in 2021.

What Did Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Discuss On Their CBS Interview?

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex discussed their Archewell Foundation‘s new initiative, The Parent Network, which supports parents of children who have suffered from the negative effects of social media. They also discussed what it’s like parenting their children Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.

The American Riviera Orchard founder spoke candidly about addressing her mental health (and her previous suicidal thoughts) with Oprah back in 2021, and said that the new Parent Network initiative aims to protect children with similar struggles.

“I believe part of our healing journey, certainly part of mine, has been being really open about it,” the Duchess of Sussex said on the CBS interview.

“I would never want someone else to feel that way, and I would never want someone else to be making those plans, and I would never want someone else to not be believed,” she continued, adding: “So if me voicing what I have… overcome will save someone, or encourage someone in their life to genuinely check in on them…then that’s okay, I’ll take a hit for that.”

Prince Harry also went on to talk about the need to protect children from online bullying, saying: “We always talk about, in the olden days, if your kids were under your roof, you knew what they were up to. At least they’re safe.”

He added: “But now, they can be in the next door room on a tablet or a phone and could be going down these rabbit holes. And before you know it, within 24 hours, they could be taking their life.”

Online Criticism

Although many people praised Prince Harry and Meghan for talking about how social media is negatively affecting children and teens, not all the feedback was positive. Many other people online took issue with the controversial couple's interview. Several people referenced Prince Harry and Meghan's past comments about wanting to protect their privacy, and how sitting down for another interview didn't coincide with them wanting to stay out of the public eye.

One person branded the Duke and Duchess of Sussex "pathetic," as another thought it was ironic that they were "complaining about the media by constantly going to the media." Someone else said: "Talking about protecting their children when Meghan threatened suicide when supposedly pregnant with archie. They leave the alleged children for weeks at a time but they will protect them from on line bullies when they are bullies themselves. Not Authentic at all imo."

"The HYPOCRISY. Dear LORD," wrote one YouTube viewer in the comments section of CBS' video featuring a snippet from the interview. "I thought these 2 wanted privacy?" asked another, while someone else said: "Don't be fooled by grifters." "Never ending victimhood," slammed another viewer on another CBS video, as another added: "The privacy tour continues. Why are you giving them a stage? All they do is lying, playing victim and throwing mud at everyone that questions them."
