Meghan Markle was spotted out and about in Santa Barbara last week—her first public appearance since the release of Omid Scobie’s bombshell book about the royal family, Endgame. The most recent royal drama has been drummed up by the Dutch translation of the book, which named Kate Middleton and King Charles as the individuals that Markle claims had “concerns” about the skin color of her and Prince Harry’s son, Archie.
Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, left their royal duties behind in 2020, and have left quite a bit of royal drama in their wake. Meghan’s accusations of racism from the royal family came in a 2020 interview with Oprah, and through that, plus their 2021 Netflix documentary and Harry’s 2023 memoir, Spare, they have effectively drawn a line in the sand. Meghan Markle Is Carefree In LA
Meghan may have been heading to the gym—she was dressed in black leggings and a black long-sleeved athletic t-shirt, plus a green baseball cap and New Balance sneakers. She also wore a pair of sunglasses (maybe she was going for an incognito look?) and pulled her dark hair back in a simple braid. She was just a few miles from the Montecito home that she shares with Prince Harry.
Meghan & Harry Yet To Comment On 'Endgame' Racism Allegations
While Meghan did not name which members of the royal family reportedly made comments about her unborn son's skin tone, Omid Scobie did. Scobie, who also authored Finding Freedom, a book about the ex-royals that has named him their unofficial spokesperson by the general public. Scobie does however say that he did not intend to name anyone, and that the naming of Kate Middleton and King Charles was a "translation error." The Dutch translators have denied this.
Either way, neither Meghan nor Harry has spoken out to confirm or deny Scobie's allegations.
Fans Are Divided In Their Reactions
Up until Scobie's Endgame release, there were seldom any Meghan and Harry supporters found on the internet, but all this talk has summoned up a few. Now, both fans and haters have taken to social media to share their thoughts on the situation. "Love her confidence!" one person wrote. "I'm so glad she is so over the noise, living her life as she should, just as everyone has the right to do. FREEDOM IS GOLDEN!!!"
"Meghan is such a beautiful, loving and warm-hearted person," another person commented.
"Stunning! Such a beautiful smile," one fan wrote.
"A beautiful and heroic woman. So strong and independent," another fan added. "She is an inspiration."
But others weren't as kind. "It's a smirk," said one person, talking about the smile she had on her face in pap photos.
"That's a gloating smile!" another user agreed.
"Of course she doesn't care," said another user. "She did this to her own family."
"She's obviously delighted that books with their names have been released," another person wrote.
"He is her mouthpiece," another person said of Scobie. "No way he could have gotten that very specific information from anyone but Meghan."
"I bet she's smiling," a final fan wrote. "It's all going to her plan!"
