Meghan Markle Reunites With Royal Family At Windsor Palace After Charles Reportedly Told Prince Harry She ‘Wasn’t Welcome’ At Balmoral

Meghan Markle made headlines over the weekend after appearing at Windsor Castle on Saturday, two days after the Queen’s death to greet fellow mourners. She joined her husband Prince Harry, his brother Prince William and wife Kate Middleton (Now the Prince and Princess of Wales) even despite a rumored rift between the brothers. The moment has been deemed “heartwarming to see” and many have expressed on Twitter that they hope “they can all stick together as a family.”
The foursome donned all-black outfits in honor of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing. Despite what many have dubbed a “sweet sight,” an insider allegedly dished to The Sun that Harry’s father, King Charles III didn’t want Markle to attend any Balmoral events. The outlet reported that the new King told his son that Markle was not “welcome” to join the rest of the royal family at Balmoral, which some are saying could explain why Markle was announced as to be heading to Balmoral with Harry on Thursday, and later revealed to not be going.
The anonymous source reportedly expanded on this to The Sun: “Charles told Harry that it wasn’t right or appropriate for Meghan to be in Balmoral at such a deeply sad time. It was pointed out to him that Kate was not going and that the numbers really should be limited to the very closest family. Charles made it very, very clear Meghan would not be welcome.”
Middleton stayed behind with her and William’s three young children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, who were just beginning at a new school that day. Harry ultimately made the trip by himself, although the Sun reports that there was definitely room on the plane that Prince William, his uncles Prince Andrew and Edward and his wife Sophie took.
As Harry was staying at his Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, it seems that any of his royal family members who lived closeby could have shared a car ride with him to the airport, yet they did not, and The Sun adds that Harry was “refused” a seat on the plane.
The official announcement of the Queen’s death was made while Harry was still mid-air in his private jet, and while the rest of the royals were then all at Balmoral. The prince eventually arrived at the Queen Elizabeth’s Scottish home an hour after the announcement, and he left Balmoral early Friday morning. He then boarded a commercial flight from Aberdeen, which was also the first British Airways flight of the day back to London.
One of Harry’s fellow flight passengers supposedly dished to The Sun: “He barely moved for the whole hour-long flight and was obviously reflecting on his beloved grandmother. It was so sad to see him without the other royals to comfort him. I really hope the queen’s death will help them heal their rifts.”
While we don’t know for sure, many believe Charles and Princess Anne were the only family members with the Queen as she died, although her son Charles has a Scottish home nearby and Anne was in Balmoral. On Friday, the following family members stayed in Balmoral while Charles, William, and Harry returned to England: Anne, Andrew, Edward, and Sophie.
Charles’ alleged demand that Markle was to stay away contrasts his first televised address as King on Friday, in which he mentioned his younger son and daughter-in-law. “I want also to express my love for Harry and Meghan as they continue to build their lives overseas,” Charles said in the address from Buckingham Palace.
